Agrimed Is looking for an Accountant
REPORTING TO: Principal Officer

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Roles
The position:
• Prepares reports to management regarding the statutory financial matters of the Society.
• Determines appropriate risk premium that provides adequacy to the cost of claims.
• Manages benefits utilisation – claims data to determine trends in claims frequencies, claims values, package performance analysis reviews and recommendation for appropriate package benefit limits.
• Prepares annual Budgets and tracks budgets during implementation to ensure that costs are according to plan and participates in Budget Variance Analysis meetings through providing responses and explanations with respect to actual expenditures to the Finance Committee.
• Ensures statutory audits are done as per the statutory instrument stipulations.
• Provides Board Secretarial and Governance services and ensures that all governance matters are done within the context of the Constitution and Medical Aid Statutes – (Quarterly Committees and Board Meetings, Board
Resolutions and Board resolutions implementations, Annual Reports, Annual General Meetings and Statutory Returns).
• Ensures effective internal controls and systems that govern financial management, financial reporting and management accounting are implemented in compliance with financial policies procedures and ultimately safeguards the integrity of financial reports.
• Ensures stewardship of short term and long-term statutory liquidity and solvency of the Society through short term and long term cashflow plans and forecast and where there is a financial gap, recommend measures to
close the gap.
• Manages human capital matters, recommend performance management systems and general administrative roles.

Qualifications and Experience

Skills, Experience and qualifications
• Advanced Level Accounting and Mathematics.
• Degree in Accounting.
• Full Professional Qualification CIS / ACCA/CIMA/ a must.
• Demonstrable skills in risk management, financial reporting, management accounting in the context of insurance / medical aid industry.
• Excellent analytical and advisory skills with high work standard.
• Excellent interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, discretion and impartiality) are essential for this position.
• Conversant with Pastel Evolution accounting package.
• Knowledge of Belina Payroll package.
• Compliance related experience is an added advantage.
