Accountant Position as Senior Finance Professional at Chikukwa Ecological Land Use Organisation (CELUO)

Position: Accountant
Location: Chikukwa, Chimanimani District, Manicaland Province

Application Deadline: 08. June 2026 Chikukwa Ecological Land Use Organisation (CELUO) is seeking an experienced, professional and highly accountable Accountant to strengthen the organisation’s financial management, internal controls, donor compliance and financial sustainability. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to strengthening the financial integrity, accountability, and long-term sustainability of a community-rooted organisation. About CELUO CELUO is a community-based organisation working in the Districts of Chimanimani and Chipinge in Manicaland Province. The organisation promotes sustainable livelihoods, agroecology, child protection, community cohesion and participatory community development through people-centered approaches. Role Summary Reporting to the Executive Director, the Accountant will serve as CELUO’s senior finance professional and play a key role in ensuring sound financial management, budgeting, financial reporting, audit preparedness, donor compliance and organisational accountability. The Accountant will work closely with the Executive Director, the Finance Committee of the Executive Committee, the Administration Officer, the Finance Officer, Project Coordinators, and other staff to ensure that financial systems effectively support programme implementation while maintaining high standards of transparency, accountability, and compliance.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and strengthen CELUO's financial management systems, controls and procedures.
• Coordinate organisational budgeting, financial planning and cash-flow management.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements, statutory obligations and organisational policies.
• Coordinate organisational and project audits and support implementation of audt recommendations.
• Strengthen internal controls, segregation of duties and financial accountability
mechanisms.
• Support transparent and compliant procurement processes through financial oversight and compliance verification. • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to the organisation’s Finance Officer and
Finance Attaché/Graduate Trainee.
• Work closely with Project Coordinators/Head of Departments to support budgeting, expenditure monitoring and programme implementation.
• Support the Finance Committee of the Executive Committee through preparation of financial information, audit updates and financial analyses.
• Contribute to continuous strengthening of CELUO's systems, accountability mechanisms and organisational effectiveness.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field. Master’s Degree would be an advantage.
• Minimum of five (4) years of relevant experience in accounting, finance management or donor-funded programmes.
• Demonstrated experience in budgeting, financial reporting, audits and compliance management.
• Strong knowledge of financial controls, internal control systems and audit requirements.
• Experience working with NGOs, community-based organisation or donor-funded projects is highly desirable.
• Experience supervising, mentoring or supporting junior finance personnel is an added advantage.
• Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office applications and recognized accounting
software such as Sage Pastel/Sage 50, QuickBooks, Xero, Sage 200, Pastel Evolution or similar financial management systems.
• Knowledge of statutory financial compliance requirements and reporting systems relevant to Zimbabwe (including ZIMRA, VAT, PAYE and NSSA obligations).
