Job Description

The University of Zimbabwe is inviting suitably qualified and experienced individuals to apply for the following positions that have arisen at the University of Zimbabwe.

1. ASSISTANT WELDER (1 Post)

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate must be able to:

* Assist qualified welders in setting up welding equipment and tools.
* Prepare materials by cutting and aligning metals.
* Comfortably use hand tools, grinders, clamps, measuring tape etc.
* Understand how metal parts fit together from drawings or verbal instruction.
* Have a basic knowledge of workshop safety and PPE use.
* Keep the work area clean and organised.
* Perform basic welding tasks under supervision.
* Perform any other duties as assigned by the superior.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and Experience

The position requires an individual with:

* At least 5 ‘O’ Level passes including English Language (Grade C or better).
* A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Welding or related field.
* Entry level candidates i.e. basic welding short-course certificates or Worker Exemption (WX) Certificate.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure with minimal supervision and readiness to work flexible hours when required.
