Job Description

We are seeking a committed, responsible, and hands-on Boarding Master for our senior school boarding facility in Selous, Mashonaland West. The role involves overseeing student welfare, discipline, and development while creating a safe, structured, and supportive environment. The ideal candidate will also be practically skilled and able to contribute to maintenance, repairs, and general school operations or any other area during the day, adding value beyond boarding supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities

. Supervise and ensure the safety, discipline, and well-being of boarding students
. Maintain a structured and supportive boarding environment
. Provide guidance, mentorship, and pastoral care
. Manage daily boarding routines and oversee hostel operations
. Communicate with school staff and parents on student welfare
. Carry out or assist with basic repairs and maintenance tasks
. Support general school operations and upkeep during school hours
. Identify and report maintenance needs and contribute to improvements

Qualifications and Experience

. Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in a boarding school.
. Practical skills in maintenance (e.g., plumbing, carpentry, electrical work) or a related trade.
. Ability to perform minor repairs and general upkeep of school facilities.
. Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
. Experience in managing student welfare, discipline, and development.
. A solid understanding of the boarding school environment and student care
. Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive, hands-on approach
. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
. Relevant qualification in a relevant field (e.g., maintenance, education, or social work) is an added advantage
. Ability to live on-site and actively engage in all aspects of school life
. High level of integrity, responsibility, and professionalism
. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
. Ability to adapt to dynamic environments and take initiative
