Job Description
JOB VACANCY: BOREHOLE PLUMBERS & INSTALLERS
We are looking for skilled and practical Borehole Plumbers and Installers with training from a recognised Polytechnic College or Technical Institution.
The successful candidates will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of borehole water systems, pumps, tanks and associated pipework.
Duties and Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Install complete borehole water systems
• Install and connect submersible borehole pumps
• Install rising mains and delivery pipes
• Install HDPE, PVC and other water pipelines
• Install water tanks, tank stands and associated plumbing
• Connect boreholes to residential, commercial and irrigation systems
• Install pressure tanks, valves, fittings and control equipment
• Assist with pump removal and replacement
• Carry out borehole plumbing repairs and maintenance
• Install pump control boxes and related equipment where applicable
• Assist with solar borehole pump installations
• Carry out pipe trenching, laying, jointing and testing
• Detect and repair leaks and plumbing faults
• Carry out pressure testing of installed pipelines
• Assist engineers and technicians during borehole commissioning
• Maintain tools, equipment and materials used on site
• Follow drawings, measurements and installation instructions
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and site safety
Qualifications and Experience
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Certificate, National Certificate or Diploma in Plumbing, Water Engineering, Irrigation, Mechanical Engineering or a related trade from a recognised Polytechnic or Technical College
• Practical knowledge of borehole plumbing and pump installations
• Good understanding of HDPE and PVC pipe installations
• Ability to use plumbing and installation tools safely
• Ability to take accurate measurements and follow technical instructions
• Physically fit and willing to work on different project sites
• Hardworking, disciplined and reliable
• Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team
ADDED ADVANTAGES
• Previous experience installing borehole pumps
• Experience with solar-powered borehole systems
• Knowledge of irrigation installations
• Experience with commercial water pipelines
• Knowledge of water tanks and booster pump systems
• Basic electrical knowledge relating to pump installations
• Driver’s licence
• Ability to read basic engineering or plumbing drawings
