Purpose of the Call
RMI is currently seeking experienced quantitative and qualitative enumerators to join our dynamic team
for an upcoming evaluation in the agricultural sector to be conducted beginning of February 2025. The
duration of data collection anticipated to be for 21 days, will be preceded by a 5 days training programme
after which teams will be deployed to respective districts
Successful candidates should be ready to undergo training on the specific data collection processes,
expectations and familiarise with the tools to be used before deployment to the field across 24 districts
of the country.
The selected enumerators will be responsible for implementing survey plans, conducting district,
community and household interviews and surveys, and ensuring data quality and integrity. This effort
supports RMI’s commitment to enhancing robust research and evaluation outcomes, providing valuable
insights for its clients and contributing to sustainable socio-economic transformation
Categories
a) Quantitative Enumerators
• Attend training sessions to understand survey/study objectives, methodology, and ethical
considerations.
• Conduct face-to-face quantitative surveys with households in sampled community gardens,
located across 24 districts of Zimbabwe.
• Using direct observation forms provided by RMI to record key characteristics of the gardens
• Enumerate community garden plots, and list the households which farm each plot.
• Random selection of households from the list.
• Ensure accurate and timely data entry.
• Adhere to research protocols and ethical guidelines.
• Work effectively within a team and independently.
• Any other task as assigned by the field supervisor and / the project management team.
Qualitative Enumerators
• Attend training sessions to understand survey/study objectives, methodology, and ethical
considerations.
• Conduct Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) with community gardens leadership.
• Conduct additional KIIs in selected community garden locations with stakeholders specified by
RMI.
• Conduct KIIs with the District Agricultural Extension Officers and District Community Workers.
• Conduct Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) in selected community garden locations. The FGDs will
be divided between separate groups of 1) women youth, 2) women elders, 3) male youth, and 4) male elders.
• Adhere to research protocols and ethical guidelines.
• Work effectively within a team and independently.
• Record and upload audio files in a manner prescribed by RMI.
• Ensure FGD participants are provided with refreshments
• Any other task as assigned by the field supervisor and / the project management team.
c) Transcribers
• Under the guidance of the project management teams, transcribers will be mainly responsible
producing transcripts of received audio files.
• Ensure accurate and timely production of transcripts using a template to be provided by RMI.
• Properly label and save completed transcripts in a format prescribed by RMI.
• Review all completed transcripts before submission.
• Upload completed transcripts guided by instructions provided by RMI.
• Attend one day training session.
• Adhere to research protocols and ethical guidelines.
• Work effectively within a team and independently.
• Any other task as assigned by the field supervisor and / the project management team.
Key Requirements
• Preference will be given to enumerators who were part of the evaluation’s listing exercise conducted
in December 2024
• Experience in research and in particular data collection, availability, knowledge in certain technical
areas, contextual understanding, and familiarity with the local languages for target districts will be the
main criterion for selection of enumerators.
• Excellent command of English and other local languages
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to travel and work flexibly according to project needs.
• Ability to work under pressure and demanding circumstances alone or within a team.
• No criminal record
• Enumerators are expected to be respectful of the community, community leadership and
membership and cultural context and maintain security awareness at all times.
Qualifications
• Minimum of a first degree in Agriculture, Social Sciences, Nutrition, Public Health, Statistics
and Economics.
• Previous experience as an enumerator for at least 3 years is essential.
• Familiarity with different data collection platforms such as KoBo Collect, ODK, Survey Solutions, Survey
ToGo, Survey CTO, mWater, Tangerine and Survey Monkey.
