Job Description
We are looking for an honest, reliable and customer-focused Cashier to work in both our bar and grocery shop. The successful candidate will rotate between the two outlets according to the duty roster and business needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Receive payments, issue receipts and give customers correct change.
• Process cash, card and mobile-money transactions accurately.
• Record all sales and reconcile cash and payment records at the end of each shift.
• Maintain separate, accurate sales and cash records for each outlet.
• Complete proper handovers of cash, stock and equipment when changing shifts or outlets.
• Serve customers politely and respond to routine enquiries.
• Assist with stock counts, shelf replenishment and checking expiry dates.
• Report cash differences, stock shortages, damaged goods and suspicious transactions promptly.
• Keep the till and customer service areas clean and organised.
• Follow cash-handling, security and responsible alcohol-sales procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
• At least three Ordinary Level passes.
• Previous cashier experience in a bar, grocery shop or similar business.
• Ability to operate a point-of-sale system and process electronic payments.
• Experience in stock taking and stock reconciliation.
• Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Honesty, accountability and the ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Willingness to work long hours including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Ability to work comfortably in both a bar and grocery environment.
