7.1.2 Chaplain (1 Post)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Representing the Vice Chancellor at funerals of staff and students;
• Coordinating interdenominational groups at the University;
• Pastoral counselling of both students and staff;
• Certifying certificates at the University;
• Promoting hospitable ecumenical sensitivity and awareness on campus;
• Promoting and coordinating religious activities on campus;
• Coordinating the University community to carry out community, charity and social services;
• Any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department
Applicants should have a minimum of a first degree in Theology or related field, plus four (4) years post qualification pastoral experience in a parish, educational or other ministerial setting OR a Masters degree in Theology, plus two (2) years pastoral experience in a parish, educational or other ministerial setting. The Chaplain should be especially comfortable relating to young adults. Sensitivity, empathy and sense of humour are important personal qualities. A clean class four (4) driver’s licence is a MUST.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
Reporting to the Dean of Students, the incumbent must be a team player, honest, mature, professional, and hardworking. In addition, applicants should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
