The Chef will be responsible for the preparation and serving of nutritious meals for learners and staff, while ensuring high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and safety in the school kitchen. The role requires a disciplined and reliable individual who can follow established menus, manage basic stock control, and maintain an orderly kitchen environment in line with the values and regulations of Shalom Elite School.
-Prepare and cook meals according to the approved school menu and serving schedules
-Ensure all meals meet acceptable standards of quality, nutrition, and presentation
-Maintain high levels of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, equipment, and food storage areas
-Observe and comply with food safety, health, and sanitation regulations at all times
-Assist with basic stock control, proper storage of food items, and reduction of food wastage
-Ensure kitchen utensils and equipment are properly cleaned and safely stored after use
-Work cooperatively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations
-Report shortages, equipment faults, or health and safety concerns to the responsible authority
-Uphold the values, rules, and code of conduct of Shalom Elite Group of Schools
-Basic knowledge of cooking and food preparation
-Any training or informal experience in catering, cooking, or kitchen work will be an added advantage
-Previous experience in a school, boarding, hospital, or institutional kitchen is preferred but not mandatory
-Knowledge of basic food hygiene, cleanliness, and safe food handling practices
-Ability to follow instructions, menus, and standard kitchen procedures
