Communication Liaisons Officer: Union Zimbabwe Trust (UZT)

The Union Zimbabwe Trust (UZT) supports the national TB-HIV response in Zimbabwe primarily through funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the TB Local Organization Network funding mechanism. The position of Communication & Liaisons Officer has arisen within the UZT.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties
The incumbent will assist in the formulation and implementation of UZT’s technical assistance package to the National Tuberculosis Program (NTP) in the area of advocacy and communication for effective community engagement in the national TB-HIV response. She/he will also be the organizational communications liaison focal point, responsible for the organization's public relations portfolio and in particular, documenting and relaying key success stories for all supported project activities.
Organizational Position
The incumbent will be accountable to the Executive Director.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the incumbent shall be primarily responsible for: On organizational public relations liaison related issues to safeguard cordial relations with all stakeholders; Support the Executive Director in dealing with national, regional and foreign media, including preparation of organizational media related articles as required; Documentation and dissemination of success stories, promising best practices and lessons learned for all UZT supported activities; Contributing to timely submission of quarterly, semi-annual and annual technical reports; Management, dissemination and storage of reference documents and health promotion materials; Supporting the NTP and National AIDS Program (NAP) in designing an effective advocacy and communication package to support implementation of TB-HIV control activities; Coordinating implementation of project supported community related interventions on TB, integrated TB-HIV care and Programmatic Management of Drug-resistant TB in liaison with UZT, NTP and NAP staff; Supporting community related capacity development activities at national and sub-national levels to ensure effective delivery of supported activities.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and Experience
A Master degree in communication; 10 years working experience with at least 5 years in the non-government sector; Ability to lead an advocacy team; Good in both written and oral communication; A qualification in Health Promotion would be an added advantage.
