Job Description

The incumbent shall be responsible for ensuring the quality, consistency, and compliance of concrete products and construction materials through laboratory testing, field inspections, and quality control procedures. The role supports operational excellence by monitoring material specifications, conducting mix design evaluations, and ensuring adherence to industry standards and safety requirements. To perform any other duties as assigned by superiors.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Conduct testing of concrete, aggregates, cement, and other construction materials in accordance with approved standards and procedures.
 Develop, evaluate, and optimize concrete mix designs to meet project specifications and performance requirements.
 Carry out site inspections and quality control checks on concrete production, placement, curing, and finishing processes.
 Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring calibration and proper functioning at all times.
 Prepare and submit accurate laboratory reports, test results, and quality assurance documentation.
 Investigate material failures and recommend corrective actions to improve product quality and operational efficiency.
 Ensure compliance with relevant quality, environmental, health, and safety standards.
 Support project teams by providing technical advice on concrete technology and material performance.
 Maintain accurate records of tests, inspections, and quality control activities.
 Promote a culture of safety within the department and participate in regular safety audits and training programmes.

Qualifications and Experience

 Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Materials Engineering, Concrete Technology, or equivalent qualification.
 Minimum of three (3) years' experience in concrete testing, quality control, or construction materials laboratory operations.
 Sound knowledge of concrete mix design, testing procedures, and relevant industry standards.
 Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
 Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
 Ability to work with minimum supervision.
 Good communication and report-writing skills.
 Attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
