Consultancy Mental Health Report: Local NGO

Introduction
A reputable organisation in Zimbabwe working on transitional justice seeks an experienced consultant to assist in producing a report on mental health of victims of human rights violations as a social justice issue in Zimbabwe.

Purpose and scope of the task
The purpose of the consultancy is to produce a report on mental health of victims of human rights violations as a social justice issue and its link to transitional justice processes that will serve as an advocacy tool to inform the implementation of measures aimed at ensuring the mental health of victims, survivors, their families and affected communities.

Duties and Responsibilities

It is envisioned that the consultant will:

Highlight the link between mental health, social justice and transitional justice; Conduct a context analysis of the current state of mental health services in Zimbabwe in relation to victims of human rights violations bringing out the existing and relevant structures; Discuss the importance and the role of mental health reconstruction after violence to achieve justice, peace, stability, healing and reconciliation; Identify gaps, challenges and opportunities in the promotion of mental health in a victim-centric manner; Highlight some considerations and strategic entry points for relevant stakeholders in ensuring that mental health policies are integrated into the official national peace and reconciliation processes; Utilise a victim-centric perspective to the topic; Produce a comprehensive report focusing on the above-mentioned issues and proposing recommendations accordingly.

Deliverables

The consultant must share a well-researched report within thirty days of the signing of the contract. The length of the paper should be of maximum 25 pages, including a bibliography. The style guide of the organisation will be shared with the author for reference.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications
The suitable consultant must possess: A degree(s) in law, peacebuilding, human rights, transitional justice, mental health or a related social science degree, a post-graduate degree will be an added advantage. Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of transitional justice and mental health in Zimbabwe. At least five years of experience in undertaking evidence-based study research.
