As part of our expansion, we are recruiting a proactive and analytical Credit Officer to support our lending operations and ensure portfolio quality.
Role Overview
The Credit Officer will be responsible for client acquisition, loan appraisal, credit risk assessment, and portfolio management, while ensuring compliance with lending policies and regulatory guidelines. The Credit Officer will report to the Branch Manager.
Key Responsibilities
• Client Acquisition & Appraisal: Market micro-credit products, identify potential clients, conduct site visits, and assess business viability.
• Loan Processing: Prepare loan applications, verify documentation, evaluate financial data, and process loan paperwork.
• Portfolio Management: Monitor active loans, track repayments, follow up on delinquent accounts, and implement recovery strategies.
• Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and community stakeholders.
• Reporting & Compliance: Prepare periodic reports, ensure adherence to lending policies, and provide feedback for product improvement.
• Risk Management: Analyse credit risks, recommend mitigation measures, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.
Qualifications & Experience
• Diploma or Degree in Finance, Banking, Marketing, Business, or related field.
• Experience in microfinance, banking, or related financial services is an added advantage.
• Strong understanding of lending procedures, financial analysis, and risk assessment.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and reporting skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet targets.
• Excellent customer service, communication, and negotiation skills.
