Job Description
DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING SERVICES
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the post of Director of Engineering Services, which is vacant.

Reporting to the Town Secretary.
Duties and Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Head of the Engineering Department.
• Overseeing the planning, designing, construction, operation, and maintenance of all Council infrastructures.
• Formulating the department budget and submitting it to the Town Secretary
• Managing the production of future development master plans and local plans
• Participating in the formulation and implementation of Council strategic plans
• Attending board meetings to give technical advice and ensure timeous implementation of Council resolutions relevant to the Engineering Services Department.
•Giving timely feedback to the Town Secretary on all work/projects/activities being implemented in the Department.
• Handling disciplinary cases fairly and firmly within the given time frame.
• Ensuring that Departmental staff are properly supervised through section heads.
• Formulating internal control measures and policies for the department
• Formulating standard operating procedures for the Department tasks and activities
• Managing project implementation, overseeing compliance with quality control standards and design specifications
• Overseeing the implementation of council resolutions and by-laws related to engineering services, ensuring compliance with Acts
• Perform any other duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Town Secretary.
Qualifications and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Degree from a recognized University in Engineering
• Membership of the Zimbabwe Council of Engineers
• At least three years post-qualification experience
• Class four driver's license
• Acitizen ofZimbabwe
• No criminal record
• A clean record of service within the local government fraternity, where applicable.
