Job Description
We are looking for a highly analytical and results-driven Engineering Finance Manager to oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control for engineering projects and operations. The successful candidate will partner closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure projects are financially viable, cost-efficient, and aligned with strategic objectives. This role plays a key part in capital expenditure (Capex) planning, investment appraisal, risk management, and providing data-driven insights to leadership for sound decision-making.
This position is ideal for a finance professional with strong project finance or engineering environment experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Budgeting
• Develop and manage annual budgets for engineering projects, Capex, and operational expenditure
• Align project budgets with overall business and strategic goals
• Monitor budget utilization and recommend corrective actions
Cost Management & Financial Analysis
• Track and analyze engineering costs and project spend
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements
• Conduct ROI and feasibility analysis for new equipment, technologies, and initiatives
Investment Appraisal (Capex)
• Evaluate capital investments and prepare financial models
• Support decision-making on machinery, systems, and infrastructure investments
• Present recommendations to senior management
Risk Management & Compliance
• Identify financial risks such as cost overruns, delays, or procurement issues
• Implement financial controls and mitigation strategies
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, policies, and internal controls
Strategic & Operational Support
• Partner with engineering and project managers to improve financial discipline
• Provide financial models and insights for planning and resource allocation
• Support internal and external audits related to engineering finance
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications & Experience
• Degree in Finance, Economics, or related field
• 1–2+ years experience in project finance, engineering finance, construction/electrical finance, or operations finance
• Strong financial modelling and Excel skills
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Knowledge of Capex evaluation and investment appraisal techniques
• Understanding of procurement and project cost control processes
