Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following posts that have arisen in the University:
AFRICAN INDEGENOUS VEGETABLES INSTITUTE

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to provide academic leadership to the Institute, initiate, guide and contribute to basic and applied research, innovation and industrialisation programmes in the institute as well as teach the following courses at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level: Introduction to Entomology, Insect Pest Management, Pesticide Science and Application Methods, Insect Systematics. In addition, the candidate is expected to supervise research by students under taught programmes and higher degrees by research (MPhil/DPhil/PhD), provide community
outreach and University services in the field of Entomology, develop and promote task based learning models and other products for improved pest management, conduct research that produce goods and services in the field of Entomology and contribute to Community Outreach, Innovation and Industrialization in line with Education 5.0 and the University Strategic Plan.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must have at least an earned PhD in Entomology or Crop Protection/Crop Science or related discipline; or should be a registered PhD student, a Master’s Degree/MPhil in Entomology or Crop Protection with a merit pass or better. A Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Crop Science or equivalent is a must. Applicants are expected to demonstrate proficiency in their speciality by a record of peer reviewed publications. The applicant should have the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
