Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following position that has arisen within the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) - an equal opportunity employer.
Position: ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNICIAN
Grade C3
Station : Nyamapanda Border Post
Reporting to the Border Supervisor, the job incumbent will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, preventing and controlling importation of hazardous substances.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities Entail:
• Inspecting hazardous substances at entry and exit points at the border post.
• Monitoring packaging of hazardous substances.
• Checking compatibility of hazardous substances.
• Ensuring avoidance of spillage and contamination.
• Checking documents of vehicles carrying hazardous substances.
• Assessing fees for licensing purposes.
• Raising invoices for payment of licence fees.
• Maintaining database for vehicles transporting hazardous substances.
Recording daily statistics.
• Carrying out accident assessments when they occur.
•Attending stakeholder meetings with ZIMRA, security forces or any other stakeholders.
• Writing periodic and ad-hoc reports.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications, Experience and Competences:
• Diploma in Environmental Management, Chemical Engineering or any other equivalent relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
• Atleast one (1) year experience in the field.
• Good analytical skills.
