Job Description

Job Overview
• The main purpose of this job is to develop, maintain, manage and execute a comprehensive process for identifying, assessing, mitigating, monitoring and reporting on risks that may impact on organisational performance within investment banking.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Associate Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) will:
• Ensure alignment of Risk Management with Corporate Strategy. Provides direction for the allocation of resources for Risk Management.
• Ensure that appropriate Risk Owners are designated to assist with the execution of ERM Framework.
• Assist the Board / Risk Committee and Senior Management in balancing the organization’s risk-taking ability with its approved Risk Appetite to protect as well as enhance Corporate Value.
• Establish and communicate ERM vision across the organization.
• Work with Senior Management to define appropriate role of Risk Management in the organization.
• Supports Senior Management and the Board / Risk Committee in ensuring that risks are mitigated to the desired level.
• Assists Senior Management in communicating ERM's role throughout the organization.
• Advise Management on Risk Management activities and leading practices.
• Develop monitoring methods to highlight performance of ERM Framework.
• Provide guidance to functions while acting as a centralized resource centre.
• Proactively engage the Risk Owners to monitor & report the risks, drive risk informed decision making and enhance risk informed execution.
• Monitor the application and effectiveness of risk management processes.
• Ensure that the Risk Management Framework facilitates continuous improvement of organization’s capabilities for management of its top priority risks.
• Develop, implement and maintain an ERM framework and supporting policies and procedures (including risk tolerance levels and appetite) in line with relevant frameworks and guidelines
• Develop and implement a strategic and annual ERM plan
• Develop and implement risk assessment methodologies, models and systems in line with best practice
• Assess and maintain the Risk Maturity Profile of the organisation
• Facilitate the identification of risks utilising appropriate tools and techniques at the strategic and operational levels
• Facilitate the assessment of identified risks with severity ratings
• Facilitate the compilation of strategic and operational risk registers for business units and the organization in line with the ERM framework and best practice principles
• Facilitate the development and implementation of risk response strategies (Mitigation Plans)
• Facilitate periodic enterprise-wide risk assessment.
• Periodically review risk policies, procedures, reporting templates and framework to ensure everything is up to date.
• Report all relevant ERM matters including findings, risk positions and recommendations to relevant stakeholders in line with ERM framework, policies, and procedures
• Establish and maintain a risk management philosophy and culture within the organization through; ERM awareness activities, understanding the risk maturity model, establishing risk appetite and tolerance levels, and participation in ERM activities
• Manage the coordination of risk management with all assurance providers including external audit, insurance and compliance functions
• Assist in coordinating the activities of the Risk Management Committee and performing the Secretariat function
• Staying up to date with risk management best practices through continuous professional development.
• Facilitate sharing of risk management best practice across the organization.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications
• Relevant undergraduate qualification
• Post graduate qualification would be an advantage
• Relevant industry qualifications (CFA & FRM preferred)

Attributes
• At least 3 years working experience in a similar role.
• The ability to think strategically to monitor and support Management on matters of significance to the Institution as a whole.
• Excellent verbal, written and facilitation skills and well-developed presentation skills.
• The ability to organise and motivate others, including more senior positions.
• The ability to effectively interpret and aggregate significant amounts of data and information and distil it to key points to assist Senior Management to fully appreciate their risks.
• The ability to build effective relationships with other risk management performing functions, such as the functions concerned with compliance.
• The energy and drive to generate value for the Institution through the risk management function.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access).
• Strong understanding of risk management
• In-depth understanding of investments and the capital markets
• Highly organized and detail oriented.
