Job Description

WFP Zimbabwe is in the process of moving to a new office premises. The relocation project requires engineering process that includes producing design package at different project phases in accordance with local standards and codes. Under the supervision of WFP Deputy Country Director, the Engineer is required to produce As-Built drawings provide a record of what was constructed beyond the original blueprints. The Engineer will provide a revised set of drawings “as-built” drawings package in 2D to reflect all changes made in the building drawings, in comparison to the current condition, and show the exact dimensions, geometry, and location of all elements of the building completed and the land around it as actually constructed in the end. The Engineer will also provide technical assistance and drafting to producing the fit-out design package for the new office. The role will be for a total of 14 worked days to deliver the on the assignment.

Duties and Responsibilities

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
The Engineer will undertake the design work with a particular focus on;

Plan and prioritize workload on a daily basis in discussion with the Engineer or Project Manager.
Produce 2D Architectural, Structural, Electrical and Sanitary drawings under the guidance of Project Manager.
Conduct dimensional surveys and drawings of WFP Office in Zimbabwe.
Produce site plans, setting out information, as built drawings and site profile for given construction site.
Produce standard drawing details as per WFP Field Engineering standard.
Liaise with other WFP disciplines such as ICT, Security to produce up to standard drawings.
Provide input into designs including recommendations on layouts, dimensions, orientations etc.
Conduct Quality checks in compliance with the Engineering Unit Quality Control manual.
Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
University Degree or equivalent qualifications in Civil/Structural Engineering or Construction technologies or Architecture
Certification in the related field of expertise is required
Experience in both Civil engineering projects and Building design projects.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD, knowledge of ArchiCAD is desirable
Five or more years of relevant progressively responsible experience in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and related areas.
Knowledge in a relevant engineering system such as HVAC, Firefighting system, design of access infrastructure is desirable
Software packages: Microsoft Office, including MS Word, Excel and AutoCAD
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English. Knowledge of the local language is an added advantage
UN experience is beneficial
