Context of the position
Established in 1949, SOS Children's Villages International (CVI) is a dynamic, international social development organization working globally to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of children without parental care and those who are at the risk of losing it.
SOS Children's Villages Association of Zimbabwe is a member of SOS International - a worldwide children's social welfare organisation, providing vulnerable children without homes with a family home and educational opportunities as well as strengthening families to reduce poverty.
Mission of the position:
The Fundraising and Institutional Partnership Development Coordinator supports and advises the National Association in the development of partnerships with institutions, in order to significantly diversify and increase the financial resources available for national programs. S (h) e works with the Financial Controller and the Program Team to mobilize institutional funding for SOS CV Zimbabwe. He/she develops and implements institutional partnership strategies and is a key contributor to the growth of the funding portfolio as well as day-to-day donor relationship management with bilateral donors, international organizations, governmental institutions, embassies and any other concerned national or international organizations
Key performance areas and main responsibilities:
1. Institutional Fundraising & Partnership Strategy (30%)
• Develop and implement an institutional fundraising strategy aligned with national/regional goals.
• Identify, map, and secure new institutional partnership opportunities (bilateral, multilateral, EU, Embassies, FCDO, UN agencies, etc.).
• Cultivate and maintain strong, proactive relationships with existing and potential donors.
• Develop capacity statements, briefing notes, and marketing materials to promote the organization.
2. Proposal Development & Grant Management (40%)
• Lead the planning and writing of concept notes and full proposals for institutional grants and tenders.
• Ensure proposals are high-quality, competitive, and compliant with donor requirements.
• Coordinate proposal development processes, including managing consortia partnerships and negotiating MOUs.
• Ensure timely submission of high-quality reports (narrative and financial) to donors.
3.Local Fundraising (15%)
• Develop, monitor and implement innovative fundraising strategies.
• Initiating and coordinating fundraising events ensuring all details are properly executed.
• Identify and group local funders according to their fundraising contributions as per the following classes – gold, platinum, silver and bronze: Monthly
• Maintain a donor database ensuring the information is accurate and up to date.
• Monitor and analyses fundraising metrics to track effectiveness of fundraising initiatives
• Lead implementation of the fundraising strategy
• Conducting research and analysis trends in the corporates to identify new fundraising opportunities: fortnightly
• Organize fundraising events i.e. golf-day and galas and spearhead fundraising campaigns. Once per quarter.
• Develop and submit concept notes and presentations for current and potential local funders: every two months
• Generate CSR relations with corporates that benefit SOS Children’s Villages in line with fundraising targets. Twice per year.
• Service stakeholders through follow up communications, thank you notes, sharing stories of change and inviting them to open days.
• Prepare and present reports on fundraising efforts and progress to senior management.
• Ensure all fundraising activities comply with relevant laws and regulations.
4. Networking & Representation (10%)
• Represent the organization in sector-level meetings, working groups, and donor forums.
• Secure the organization’s participation in consortium applications.
5. Internal Capacity Building & Reporting (5%)
• Train program staff on donor regulations, reporting standards, and compliance.
• Provide regular updates (monthly/quarterly) on IPD progress to senior management.
• Maintain accurate records in Grant Management Systems.
Requirements
Qualifications and Technical Competencies
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in international development, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or related field. Masters Degree is an added advantage.
• Experience: 5–8+ years of experience in proposal development, grant management, or institutional fundraising within an NGO or INGO setting.
• Donor Knowledge: Familiarity with /BHA) and European (FCDO, ECHO, SIDA, EU) donor regulations.
• Skills: Excellent proposal writing, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Capacity: Proven ability to build partnerships and lead in a cross-functional team.
