Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the Group Financial Controller vacancy that has arisen within our mining company.
• Supervises activities of the financial and management accounting sections of the business
• Ensures compliance with adopted accounting policies and procedures at all times.
• Formulation of the annual strategic plan through provision of financial information required for decision making.
• Reviews the annual budget for SBUs for accuracy and consistency with strategy.
• Reviews capital expenditure requests for accuracy and adherence to policy.
• Ensures that all purchases or payment requests received are on the approved budget and relevant supporting documents are attached before authorization of payments.
• Supervises the preparation and reviews the consolidated management accounts on a monthly basis.
• Controls the preparation of consolidated interim and year- end financial statements.
• Reviews all journals and reconciliations which support the financial statements and management accounts, on a monthly basis, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Reviews management accounts of SBUs on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy and correct representation of financial performance.
• Receives the approved management accounts and reviews the monthly financial performance review to provide an analytical review of key performance indicators as well as variance analysis.
• Prepares and review of a quarterly cash flow projection for the business.
• Prepares Audit Committee reports and Board Finance report quarterly.
• Ensures timeous remittance of taxes and statutory deductions in line with legislation.
• Reviews quarterly provisional tax computations (QPDs) and returns in compliance with Income Tax Act.
• Manages external audit processes advising the Executive Committee on the same.
Qualifications and Experience
➢ Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
➢ Professional qualification such as CFA, ACCA will be an added advantage
➢ Minimum of 5 years managerial experience preferably in the mining industry
➢ Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, financial modelling, documentation required
➢ Excellent business analysis skills, interpersonal skills, reliability and integrity.
➢ Analytical, process, deadline driven mindset
