Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic, versatile and passionate individual to Head the Treasury Department at African Century Limited.

Duties and Responsibilities

1.Strategy
• Participates in the process of formulating the Treasury operations strategy in line with
ACL’s and Group’s Vision, Mission and Values.
• Communicates the ACL strategy to senior management and executives as a delegated
task.
• Provides professional management and steers the Treasury operations in accordance with
Policies and Decisions made by the Board.

2.Operations
• Develops and oversees implementation of daily sales and trading strategies.
• Plans for and ensures that the bank meets its financial requirements daily.
• Works with the Managing Director to attract funding and grants
• Gathers market intelligence to identify opportunities
• Manages external relationships.

3.Risk Management
• Monitors compliance by traders including profitable execution of customer and proprietary
positions
• Manages risk in the Banks Treasury from a liquidity and interest-rate perspective.
• Authorizes all above the limit trading or dealings for the Treasury Team within the given
mandate.

4. Treasury Sales and Marketing
• Leads and champions the sales and marketing to mobilize deposits, build FX customer
deal flow and cross selling of the bank’s products and services.
• Selects worthwhile events to sponsor and attend and coordinates follow up initiatives to
ensure high deal closure rates
• Represents ACL at market and economic functions to consolidate relationships with
external clients
• Establishes and maintains high level contacts with current and target customers,
regulatory authorities, and product partners to gain an insight into future plans and needs
for Treasury products and services, in order to capitalise on opportunities.

5. Pricing
• Participates in Pricing and Product Formulation and Development Committee which
reviews and proposes bank wide charges
• Negotiates and approves pricing for treasury products and clients in consultation with the
Managing Director, within given ALCO mandates and

6. Product Development and Re-engineering
• Assess product relevance in line with the market and recommend changes
• Coordinates market information gathering for product design and re-modelling

7. Human Resources
• Sets the performance targets for the Treasury team.
• Conducts performance appraisals for team members with the assistance of Human
Resources Department
• Identifies training and development needs for the Treasury team including recommending
staff structure and developmental needs

Qualifications and Experience

Requirements
• A degree in Business Studies/Banking/Finance/Economics or related field.
• A Graduate degree in a Finance related discipline/ professional qualification like CFA,
CIMA and ACCA
• Treasury Certifications are an added advantage (ACI, AFP, CTP)
• MBA or Masters in Strategic Management will be an added advantage
