POSITION OVERVIEW
Reports to: Board of Directors
The Headmaster will provide visionary leadership combining educational excellence with strong business development and operational management skills to build the College into a premier institution for middle-income families.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute growth strategy, drive enrollment, build school reputation
• Business Development: Marketing, community partnerships, revenue generation, brand building
• Operational Excellence: Design efficient systems, optimize resources, reduce costs while maintaining quality
• Financial Management: Oversee budget, fee collection, financial sustainability
• Academic Leadership: Ensure curriculum excellence, improve teaching quality and learning outcomes
• Staff Development: Recruit, develop, and retain high-quality teachers and support staff
• Stakeholder Relations: Build strong parent and community partnerships
• Compliance: Ensure all Ministry of Education regulations and standards are met
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Mandatory)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENT:
• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in any teaching subject, OR
• Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.Sc.) in any subject PLUS Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) OR Diploma in Education (Dip.Ed.)
ACCEPTABLE DEGREE EXAMPLES:
• B.Ed (Primary/Secondary Education)
• B.A. Education / B.Sc. Education
• B.A./B.Sc. (any subject) + PGCE
• B.A./B.Sc. (any subject) + Diploma in Education
POSTGRADUATE QUALIFICATION (Highly Desirable):
• Master of Education (M.Ed) in Educational Leadership, Management, Curriculum, or any education field
• MBA (Master of Business Administration) with education or management focus
• M.A./M.Sc. in Educational Leadership, School Management, or related field
• Any other relevant Master’s degree in Education or Management
PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION (Mandatory):
• Valid registration with Teachers Council of Zimbabwe (TCZ) OR ability to obtain registration immediately upon appointment
ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGEOUS QUALIFICATIONS:
• Diploma/Certificate in Educational Management or School Leadership
• Certificate in Business Administration or Financial Management
• Professional development certificates in Strategic Management, Marketing, or Operations
2. WORK EXPERIENCE (Mandatory)
TEACHING EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum 10 years of classroom teaching experience with progressive responsibility
LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum 5 years in senior school leadership positions such as:
- Deputy Headmaster/Deputy Head
- Head of Department (Senior level)
- Academic Director/Dean
- Director of Studies or similar senior role
BUSINESS & OPERATIONAL EXPERIENCE (Essential):
• Proven track record in student enrollment growth and school marketing
• Demonstrated success in improving operational efficiency and resource management
• Experience with budget management, financial planning, and cost control
• Track record of driving measurable academic improvement and examination results
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in private school sector or entrepreneurial educational ventures
• Experience serving middle-income communities and understanding their educational aspirations
