To provide specialised, continuous, and high-quality nursing care to critically ill and unstable patients, using advanced clinical skills and evidence-based practice, in order to preserve life, promote recovery and ensure patient safety within the Intensive Care Unit.
• Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients
• Monitor, assess, and document patients’ conditions accurately
• Operate and manage ICU equipment, including ventilators and monitors
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
• Collaborate effectively with doctors and the multidisciplinary team
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention, patient safety and hospital protocols
• Support patients’ families through effective communication and education
Key Competencies
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• High level of professionalism, compassion and ethical practice
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Diploma or Degree in General Nursing
• Post Basic Qualification in Intensive Care Nursing
• Current registration with the Nurses Council of Zimbabwe (NCZ)
• Minimum of 2–3 years’ ICU experience in a hospital setting
• Sound knowledge of critical care procedures and equipment
• Strong clinical judgment, communication and teamwork skills
