Job Description

We are looking for a highly qualified and competent candidate for the position of Internal Auditor - Systems and Value for Money Specialist. This proactive role involves evaluating existing organisational systems, identifying opportunities for technical, operational and technological enhancements to ensure that business systems functionalities meet user needs. Reporting administratively to the department head, with a close liaison and advisory role on system effectiveness to management.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Job Functions:
• Ensures that business processes and systems are secure, reliable, and aligned with business objectives supporting management in safeguarding assets, improving operations, and ensuring accountability.
• Conducting independent reviews of organizational systems, processes, and resources to assess efficiency, effectiveness and compliance
• Proactively assesses an organization's operational economy, efficiency, and effectiveness to ensure the responsible use of resources on projects (business cases), programs, processes, products and services
• Proactively reviewing and realigning management system documentation, policies, and standard operating procedures.
Ensure a robust systems and controls ecosystem is maintained
• Recommend improvements and practical solutions to enhance performance, improve controls, and maximize the value derived from resources, conducting market research, on-site visits and performing interviews to gather information and assess the system of internal controls.
• Coordinating with all teams, management, and other stakeholders to align on VFM objectives and findings.
• Deploying VFM tools for testing systems integrity and reporting to management on the reliability and integrity of financial and operational data within the organisation. Test system availability and disaster recovery preparedness.
• Monitoring the implementation of agreed-upon recommendations and providing follow-up support.
• Specifically review procurement processes, performing cost-benefit analyses for project decision making and implementation, and contract management for cost-effectiveness. Provide VFM advise to management for optimizing operations and reducing redundancies in line with VFM best practices.

Qualifications and Experience

Requirements of the Job:
The successful candidate for this position should meet the following criteria:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Financial Analysis, supply chain management, Auditing, Accounting, Forensics or a related field.
• A Postgraduate or Professional qualification such as CFA, CIA, ACCA, CIMA, or
CPA, CFA, CMA, CFE, or a related Masters degree is an added advantage
• Specialized training in Value-for-Money is a must.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in utilising VFM principles, and governance frameworks.
• A strong knowledge of (ERPs), VFM audit principles, and enterprise risk management frameworks (ERM)is essential.
• Great Analytical skills, with demonstrable ability to assess complex systems and data to identify risks and control weaknesses.
• Communication and collaboration skills to report findings and negotiate practical solutions with stakeholders at all levels.
• Problem-solving to develop proactive, practical and effective recommendations for process and system improvements.
• Attention to detail with the capacity to maintain accurate and concise working papers and reports, concluding analyses within defined timelines.
• High level of integrity and ethical judgment, ability to maintain independence and objectivity.
• Strong report-writing and presentation skills.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure.
