A Mutare-based FMCG company seeks a motivated Junior Mechanical Engineer to join its Construction Department
Job Purpose
The main objective of the role is to ensure the reliability, safety and efficient operation of mechanical equipment used in construction and maintenance activities through inspections, preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs and technical support.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the designated Senior Projects Engineer, the successful applicant will, among other duties, be responsible for:
❖ Planning and carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance on construction machinery, mechanical equipment and associated systems.
❖ Inspecting equipment, identifying mechanical defects and diagnosing breakdowns to minimise operational downtime.
❖ Coordinating repairs, servicing and replacement of worn or damaged mechanical components.
❖ Preparing maintenance schedules, inspection reports, job records and equipment maintenance histories.
❖ Assisting with installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems.
❖ Identifying required spare parts, tools and materials and supporting maintenance-related procurement planning.
❖ Working with construction personnel and contractors to ensure equipment is available and fit for purpose.
❖ Ensuring compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental procedures and safe maintenance practices.
❖ Performing any other related duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualification, Experience & Personal Attributes
The ideal applicant should possess the following minimum qualifications and attributes:
❖ A Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent relevant engineering qualification.
❖ At least two (2) years of relevant practical experience in mechanical engineering and maintenance.
❖ Experience with construction or industrial machinery and equipment will be an added advantage.
