Job Description
Crown College is a high school located in the heart of Norton and is a day and
boarding school catering for both boys and girls. Due to expansion, applications
are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the
position of Laboratory Technician to join our team for Term 2, 2026.
Main Roles
The Laboratory Technician will support the Science Department in delivering
practical excellence in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. He/She will ensure labs
are safe, well-resourced, and ready to inspire scientific inquiry.
Key Responsibilities
Practical Preparation: Set up and dismantle apparatus, chemicals, and
specimens for lessons and examinations as per teacher requisitions.
Lab Management: Maintain inventory, order consumables, and ensure
proper storage and disposal of chemicals per safety standards.
Equipment Maintenance: Calibrate, service, and carry out minor repairs
on laboratory equipment. Report major faults.
Safety Compliance: Enforce lab safety rules, maintain first aid kit,
manage Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) files, and conduct safety
inductions for learners.
Record Keeping: Keep registers for chemicals, breakages, equipment
use, and assist practical exam setup.
Support Teaching: Assist during practical lessons, demonstrations, and
science club activities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications: At least Diploma in Laboratory Technology, Applied
Sciences, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
Experience: At least 2 years’ experience in a school or industrial
laboratory. Experience with Cambridge practicals is an added advantage.
Skills: Knowledge of lab safety, chemical handling, basic ICT skills for
inventory. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Attributes: High integrity, attention to detail, proactive, and able to support
Christian ethos of the College.
