Bindura University of Science Education is looking for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor – Languages and Communication Skills Department: (2 Posts)

Post 1 – Specialisation in Heritage Studies
Post 2 – Specialisation in Archaeology

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities
Applicants must be able to teach at least four (4) courses at Undergraduate and postgraduate level to both conventional and block release students. The successful candidate should be able to teach some of the following courses in the Culture and Heritage Studies Programme: Introduction to Heritage Studies; Approaches to Heritage Conservation; Intangible Cultural Heritage; History and Memory; Heritage and Environmental Impact Assessment; Introduction to Archaeology; Inter-disciplinary Approaches to Archaeology; Archaeological Survey; Geographical Information Systems; Geo-archaeology; Museum Studies and Rock Art.

The Department reserves the right to allocate courses for teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to provide academic leadership to the Department, initiate, guide and contribute to basic and applied research in the Department. Successful applicants must be able to supervise Research Projects for both undergraduate and postgraduate students in their fields of specialisation and conduct collaborative research and be involved in university and community engagement.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must have at least a PhD or must be at an advanced stage towards attainment of a PhD in Heritage Studies, African Cultural Studies, Archaeology or related field. A Master’s degree in Heritage Studies, African Cultural studies and Archaeology or related field with at least a Merit and a first degree in Heritage studies, African Cultural Studies and Archaeology with at least an upper second class are a must.

Applicants must have a minimum of two (2) years university teaching experience. Proven record of publications and ability to mobilise funds will be an added advantage. The Curriculum Vitae (CV) should contain detailed list of publications; clearly specifying titles of publications, journal names, volumes, page number details, dates published, name(s) of publishers, name(s) of co-authors if any. Publications should be categorised into books, monographs, refereed and non-refereed journals, chapters in books, etc.
