Job Description

KEY RESULT AREAS
The job will entail the following, inter alia:-
1. DAY TO DAY OPERATIONS
• Lead the factory workshop and maintenance function in providing both a reactive and proactive, multi-skilled maintenance
service on all operational equipment and facilities infrastructure
• Responsible for job allocation and job flow in the workshop including job scheduling and labour allocation for day-to-day
operations.
• Co-ordinate resources, schedules, and activities to effectively manage jobs.
• Coach and develop a high performing maintenance team
2. TRACK AND REPORT
• Regularly report progress on each job and quickly communicate delays or concerns with the Managing Director
3. PLANNED MAINTENANCE
• To create and implement planned maintenance system
• Oversee plant operational performance
4. PROJECT MANAGEMENT
• Act as a technical adviser on key projects and other areas of the workshop as requested.
• Manage the process of the installation and commissioning of new equipment in collaboration with all relevant parties both
internal and external
• Provide oversight and check job estimates.
5. RECORDS MANAGEMENT
• Develop and implement systems to record, file and store information pertaining to client enquiries.
6. ISSUANCE AND TRACK SPARES & TOOLS
• Track parts being used on equipment and parts from the workshop other consumable to users and staff and update necessary
records Manage inward spares, checking quantities, dispatching spares , and receipting invoices
7. STORAGE AND SECURITY MANAGEMENT
• Storage, ordering and maintenance of materials & equipment.
• Ensure safety and security of stock and the workshop
• Monitor incoming and outgoing stock for obvious faults or defects and report these to a supervisor or senior manager
• Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in workshop stores room, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas
• Report any abuse of consumables and spares to senior management
8. PROCUREMENT
• Ordering items to be used on specific equipment
• Ensuring that requested items are working to the capacity of the machine and
• Ordering general items for the workshop
• Submission of invoices to the Finance Department for payment
• Manage contractors on site to ensure they meet legal and company requirements
• Assist with quoting, project management, materials purchasing and quality checks.
9. STOCK MANAGEMENT
• Monthly stock takes of tools and spares
• Ensuring stock in the workshop is sufficient
• Producing a stock take reports
• Update spares on SAP system

Duties and Responsibilities

Project management skills
• Communication skills
• Hands-on supervision of all workshop activities, especially technical
• Procurement and stock management
• Ability to work with people at various levels from shop floor to senior management
• CAD drawing skills are an advantage but not essential
• People management skills
• Computer literacy with SAP , Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Quality and productivity focussed

Qualifications and Experience

Education and Qualification
• 5 “O” Levels Including English and Mathematics
• Degree in engineering / HND / BTec Professional qualification / Qualification in Project Management or equivalent
2.0 Experience
• At least 2 years post graduate experience in a similar position.
• Experience in engineering in Dairy or Food industry and exposure in Apprenticeship training is an added advantage
