The successful candidate will be responsible for the repair, servicing, maintenance and overall roadworthiness of the company’s fleet, ensuring that all vehicles are operating efficiently and safely.
• Repair, service and maintain all company vehicles, including both heavy and light motor vehicles, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Receive, assess and process vehicle accident and damage reports, and coordinate the necessary repairs.
• Ensure the safety and roadworthiness of company vehicles, drivers and stock in transit, and promptly attend to vehicle breakdowns.
• Ensure compliance with all vehicle-related legislation, licensing requirements, statutory regulations and safety standards.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections and preventive maintenance checks.
• Assist with the training and assessment of new and existing drivers on basic vehicle care, safety and operational requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of vehicle servicing, repairs, inspections and maintenance activities.
• Identify mechanical faults and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive measures.
• At least 5 years’ post-graduate training experience in petrol and diesel mechanics.
• A clean Class 2 driver’s licence.
• Proven experience as a Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic, with extensive hands-on experience working on MAN TGX models and UD trucks.
• Strong diagnostic, mechanical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns.
• High level of integrity, reliability and commitment to safety.
