5.1 Music Instrument Technician (1 Post)

Duties and Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Educating students and music staff on general maintenance of music instruments;
• Inspecting, and testing musical instruments such as keyboard, brass, woodwind, percussion, electronic instruments and stringed instruments to ensure proper operations of the instruments;
• Diagnosing and making mechanical and structural repairs on music instruments;
• Servicing music instruments including dismantling, cleaning, polishing and replacing any worn parts;
• Tuning and intonating music instruments to standard or alternative tuning;
• Restoring or reconstructing cracked or broken music instruments;
• Other related duties as assigned by the Head of department and or the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The applicant must be a holder of a first degree in Music or its equivalent plus (one) 1 year working experience in institutions of higher learning and the Music industry as well. In addition, the applicant should possess practical skills in operating the PA system, tuning and maintaining both African and Western musical instruments. The applicant must be able to play at least three (3) African and three (3) Western musical instruments.
