Weltfriedensdienst e.V. (WFD) is a politically and religiously independent non-profit
organisation with its head office in Germany (since 1959) and a regional office in Harare,
Zimbabwe (since 1991). We work through local partner organisations and are dedicated to
strengthen initiatives to resolve conflicts non-violently, to establish food security and natural
resource sustainability, and to protect human rights.
WFD is an implementing agency of the Civil Peace Service (CPS), which is a programme
aimed at preventing violence and promoting peace in crisis zones and conflict regions. It strives to build a world in which conflicts are resolved without resorting to violence. The CPS is funded by the German Government through the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). CPS advisors seconded by WFD to our local CPS partner organisationssupport the organisations on the ground in their commitment for dialogue and peace on a long-term basis. We are pleased to announce this Open Call for Proposals to identify dedicated, authentic partner organisations of integrity in the field of peacebuilding, who are interested and suitable to operate within the framework the CPS Programme, and who have exciting and relevant project proposals to offer. Weltfriedensdienst e.V. (WFD) has applied to BMZ for a new programme of the Civil Peace Service in Zimbabwe. The programme, if approved, is expected to commence on 1st of January 2027 with a duration of 36 months (2027-2029). The new CPS Programme is a continuation of previous programmes and aims to strengthen communities for the constructive handling of natural resource conflicts and peacebuilding. It will focus on community cohesion, land and natural resource conflict transformation, environmental peace building and human rights advocacy to promote trust-building, tolerance and social participation.
