Job Description

Established in 1987, Population Services Zimbabwe (PSZ) is an affiliate of MSI Reproductive Choices, and is one
of the largest specialised Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) organisations in Zimbabwe. PSZ complements
the Ministry of Health and Child Care in the provision of quality, and affordable general health and SRH services
in all provinces of Zimbabwe. PSZ is seeking outstanding candidate for the following position:
1. Pharmacist/Pharmacy Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

The Role
The overall purpose of the Pharmacist/Pharmacy Manager is to manage the pharmacy and ensure excellent
performance including stocks management, medicines management, staff performance and pharmacy service
delivery in line with the PSZ mission and values guided by pharmaceutical standards regulations and laws. To
achieve the pharmacy objectives and goals in line with organizational mission and values as well as achieving
deliverables within budget and timelines. Provide the strategic coordination on all matters relating to leadership
and management of the Pharmacy in the delivery of PSZ’s strategic goals. Collaborates with other departments
and PSZ clinic(s) to achieve the overall pharmacy deliverables, perform tasks related to dispensing pharmaceutical
products, stock management including receiving of goods, storage and distribution among other duties
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following among other duties:
• Analyse monthly/weekly pharmacy business looking at product lines and come up with, if necessary,
improvement plan approaches, inspire stock levels and product ranges.
• Regulatory Compliance and Audit Preparedness - Ensure the pharmacy is audit-ready at all times by
maintaining accurate records, compliance checklists, and facilitating external and internal audits
• Ensure all drugs requested and purchased are approved by MCAZ and are also in line with PSZ/MSI
Global regulations for purchase of drugs.
• Ensure drugs ordered and supplied are as per the Standard Product List and informing Director
Marketing and Commercial Services and Procurement Department of any changes or challenges.
• Receive and check incoming medical products and supplies (from suppliers and other organizations)
and ensure quality and standards of the medical products and supplies.
• Conduct random checks on quality of drugs and participate in sampling process of products for
pharmacovigilance purposes
• Ensure there are no drugs that expire whilst in the pharmacy.
• Monitor drugs’ expiry date and minimum medical stock level in order to ensure adequate stocks at all
times and report findings to the Clinic Manager or Marketing Director.
• Keep records of serious adverse incidents e.g. drug errors, poor quality and expired drugs and Lead
pharmacovigilance activities including proper documentation, follow-up, and reporting of adverse drug
reactions to MCAZ and the internal Quality Department
• Set up an operational framework & strategic direction for the pharmacy
• Conduct a meta-analysis of Center/clinic business to inspire pharmacy product range
• Conduct feedback or update meetings with the Director Marketing and Clinic Manager to review
pharmaceutical operations
• Utilise Digital Systems and Inventory Management Tools (e.g. ERP, LMIS) - Manage digital inventory
systems for real-time tracking of pharmaceutical stock and sales, and train staff on these platforms
• Coordinate receipt of goods, verification of documents against goods delivered, and make sure the
suppliers sign the relevant documents.
• Maintain the Pharmacy clean and tidy, supervise stacking of boxes and to set correct room temperature
and level of moisture by keeping daily track records and maintaining the cold chain.
• Ensure availability and updated stock cards.
• Perform administrative tasks such as managing budgets, maintaining records, and handling insurance
claim and Oversee the pharmacy's financial performance, including cost-control strategies, margin
analysis, and income generation plans
• Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Response - Develop contingency plans for medicine supply
disruptions, epidemics, and other public health emergencies

Qualifications and Experience

About You
To succeed in this role, you must have:
• Degree in Pharmaceuticals or equivalent
• A practicing Pharmacist registered with the Pharmacists Council of Zimbabwe with a current practicing
certificate
• Accounting knowledge is an added advantage
• At least 5 years’ experience in a hospital pharmacy setup
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proven computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Clean Class (4) will be an added advantage
