Job Description
PLANT METALLURGIST
Hwangе Colliery Company Limited Holdings, a local diversified mid-tier organisation with investments in Mining, Real Estate, Health Care, Agriculture, Energy, and Financial Services has a vacancy under Hwange Mining and Processing Company Coke works and Gas Plant Section for a Plant Metallurgist. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates who meet the following minimum requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
* Provide technical support to the coke oven battery and by-products plants.
* Monitor coal quality from various mines and recommend optimum blending ratios to ensure the production of coke quality that meets customer specifications.
* Metallurgical accounting.
* Develop and maintain process control strategies that enhance plant stability and performance.
* Lead investigations into process upsets, production losses, quality deviations and equipment performance issues.
* Lead plant improvements projects.
* Compile and keep month-end and year-end sectional reports on plant throughput, efficiencies, utilization, availability and operational unit costs.
* Collate sectional budget information and liaising with coking coal preparation sections.
* Carry out safety, health and environmental inspections.
* Ensure adherence to SHEQ standards and procedures and regulatory requirements.
* Lead, manage and provide guidance in training operations teams to ensure efficient and effective operations.
Qualifications and Experience

* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Project management skills.
* Good communication and organisational skills.
* Minimum three (3) years proven experience.
* Holder of at least Class 4 drivers licence.
EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
