The Procurement Officer will oversee the purchase and movement of raw materials, machinery components, tools, and operational supplies required for production and business operations. In addition to desktop procurement and supplier negotiation, this role involves hands-on driving duties to collect equipment, inspect stock on-site, and manage local deliveries. The ideal candidate is a mature individual with strong negotiation skills, industrial procurement experience, and a clean driver's license.
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing & Supplier Management:
Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers for machinery components, raw materials, and technical equipment.
Maintain strong relationships with local and international vendors to ensure uninterrupted supply.
Purchasing & Contract Negotiation:
Prepare and issue Requests for Quotations (RFQs), Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and Purchase Orders (POs).
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, warranties, and delivery schedules to optimize cost and lead times.
Driving, Collections & Field Logistics:
Safely operate company vehicles (Class 4 or Class 2) for local procurement runs, urgent spare part collections, and site deliveries.
Inspect materials and parts at supplier premises prior to collection to ensure quality and specification accuracy.
Coordinate clearing procedures, goods transport, and delivery runs across suppliers, warehouses, and client sites.
Inventory & Budget Control:
Work closely with the warehouse team to monitor stock levels and prevent material shortages or overstocking.
Maintain precise procurement records, track spending against departmental budgets, and ensure accurate delivery documentation (goods received notes, delivery notes).
Qualifications & Requirements
Maturity & Experience: Mature individual (30+ years preferred) with a strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and sound judgment.
Driver's License: Clean, valid Class 4 or Class 2 driver’s license with a proven track record of safe driving.
Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: 3+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain, preferably within the machinery, manufacturing, industrial, or technical sectors.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with machinery spare parts, industrial components, local sourcing networks, and vehicle maintenance basics.
Skills:
Strong commercial negotiation and interpersonal skills.
High level of reliability, self-motivation, and hands-on operational capability.
Basic computer proficiency (MS Excel, Word, or ERP software).
