Essence of the role
A local NGO is seeking the services of a project manager to be responsible for the day - to - day management of the project implementation. The Project Manager will oversee the work of administrative and other support staff of the project / program, and any other local consultant hired during the course of the project. He / she will ensure that the planned objectives are attained within the stated time frame and budget and ensure compliance with the organisation’s financial rules, regulations and operating procedures. This person will be tasked with developing programs to support the organization's strategic direction, as well as creating and managing long term goals.

Position summary

The position is located at the Head Office in Harare and reports to the Director, the candidate will manage a Programme Team of 5-6 staff, and will work in close collaboration with the Finance Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities
Organizing programs and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization; Supervise and monitor the work of the project team; Allocate work to staff and control the quality of output, and evaluate the work performed by the staff of the unit; Provide new staff with guidance and training; Developing new programs to support the strategic direction of the organization; Creating and managing long-term goals; Developing an evaluation method to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement; Writing program funding proposals to guarantee uninterrupted delivery of services; Managing a team with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities; Ensuring goals are met in areas including safety, quality, and team member performance; Implementing and managing changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved; Meeting with stakeholders to make communication easy and transparent regarding project issues and decisions on services; Producing accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications, experience and other requirements
Bachelor's degree or master's degree in Development, Social Sciences or related field of study, 3 years’ experience in program management, proven experience managing a team; Understanding of project management and good organisational skills; Demonstrable experience in leading high performing teams through performance management, coaching and mentoring; Demonstrable experience of working to attract institutional donor funding.
