BOOST Fellowship is a Zimbabwean non-governmental organisation dedicated to empowering adolescents and young people with entrepreneurship, digital, environmental, financial literacy and innovation skills. Through partnerships with government, development partners and the private sector, BOOST equips young people with the skills and opportunities needed to drive positive social, economic and environmental change.

About the Project
The Climate Action for the Last Mile: Reaching the Most Vulnerable Children in Zimbabwe project seeks to strengthen climate resilience among children, adolescents and young people by increasing access to climate-smart education, green skills and youth-led climate innovation. The project is being implemented in Mangwe, Beitbridge, Chipinge and Harare and focuses on:
1. Training disadvantaged learners in green skills and renewable energy technologies
2. Implementing the green and renewable energy product to provide climate-smart lighting
3. Supporting youth climate advocates
4. Supporting youth-led green enterprises and innovations
The project is implemented by BOOST Fellowship with partners including relevant government ministries and development stakeholders
The Project Officer will lead the implementation, coordination and monitoring of project activities in Mangwe District. The officer will work closely with schools, community leaders, government departments and youth groups to ensure effective delivery of climate smart education, green skills training and youth innovation activities under the project. The position will be based in Plumtree, with regular travel to project wards and communities.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Project Implementation
Coordinate implementation of all project activities in Mangwe District.
Support training of 1,500 disadvantaged learners in green skills including the design and maintenance of renewable green lanterns.
Facilitate distribution and utilization of lanterns and training kits to disadvantaged learners
Coordinate training of youth climate advocates to champion climate action initiatives.
Support youth innovators with mentorship and business development skills linking them with ecosystem actors
2. Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise with local stakeholders including:
District Development Coordinator’s office
Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education
Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training
Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife
Schools, community leaders and youth groups
Mobilise schools and communities to participate in project activities.

3. Youth Engagement and Capacity Building
Facilitate youth-led climate awareness campaigns and environmental activities.
Support formation and strengthening of school environmental clubs.
Mentor youth innovators participating in the climate innovation challenge.

4. Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
Track project progress against district targets.
Maintain records of training sessions, beneficiaries and project outputs.
Conduct pre- and post-training assessments.
Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for submission to the Project Manager.
5. Logistics and Administration
Coordinate logistics for workshops, trainings and innovation events.
Ensure effective utilization of project resources and equipment.
Maintain project documentation and beneficiary records.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields:
Environmental Science
Climate Change
Development Studies
Renewable Energy
Social Sciences
Or a related field.

Experience
Experience working with youth programs, community development or climate initiatives.
Experience facilitating trainings or community mobilization activities.
Experience working with schools or youth groups is an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies
Strong project coordination and organisational skills.
Excellent facilitation and communication skills.
Strong monitoring and reporting skills.
Ability to work independently in rural communities.
Knowledge of climate change, renewable energy or green skills training is an added advantage.
Proficiency in English and local languages spoken in Matebeleland South.
