VACANCY: PROJECTS LEAD
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Khayah Cement for a suitably qualified and experienced professional for the position of Projects Lead. The role will provide end-to-end technical and project leadership for capital expenditure (CAPEX), infrastructure, plant improvement, rehabilitation and short-term operational projects across the organisation.
Duties and Responsibilities
MAIN DUTIES
* Lead multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept and feasibility through design, execution, commissioning and handover.
* Manage and deliver capital projects, plant upgrades, infrastructure works, rehabilitation initiatives and operational improvement projects in line with approved business requirements.
* Develop robust project scopes, technical specifications, feasibility assessments, cost estimates, schedules, resource plans and execution strategies.
* Provide multidisciplinary technical leadership across mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, process and utilities interfaces, coordinating specialist engineering input where required.
* Manage consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure delivery against approved scope, budget, quality, safety and schedule requirements.
* Lead technical evaluations, equipment and solution selection, installation oversight, testing, commissioning, performance verification and project close-out.
* Identify and manage technical, commercial, safety and delivery risks, implementing timely corrective and mitigation measures.
* Ensure projects comply with Company HSE requirements, applicable statutory obligations, recognised engineering standards and approved project governance processes.
* Provide clear project reporting to Management on progress, cost, key milestones, risks, decisions required and delivery forecasts.
Qualifications and Experience
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
* Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial, Process Engineering or another relevant Engineering discipline.
* Minimum of 8 years’ relevant post-qualification experience in project engineering/project management within heavy manufacturing, cement, mining, construction or a comparable industrial environment.
* Demonstrable experience delivering multidisciplinary CAPEX and plant/infrastructure projects from concept, design and procurement through construction, commissioning and handover.
* Strong all-round technical capability with the ability to interrogate engineering designs, drawings, specifications, BOQs, contractor proposals, project schedules and budgets across multiple disciplines.
* Strong commercial and project management capability, including budgeting, cost control, procurement support, contractor management, risk management and reporting.
* Excellent leadership, analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
* Professional registration with the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe (ECZ) and/or a recognised project management qualification will be an added advantage.
