Job Description
A leading grocery retail company is inviting suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Refrigeration Technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, servicing and repair of refrigeration and cold room equipment to ensure uninterrupted store operations, product quality preservation and compliance with food safety standards.

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on refrigeration systems, including cold rooms, freezers, chillers and display cabinets.
• Diagnose faults and repair refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment timeously.
• Monitor refrigeration temperatures and ensure compliance with food safety and operational standards.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency callouts.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and service reports
• Ensure safe handling of refrigerants and adherence to health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Liaise with store management and external service providers where necessary.
• Recommend equipment improvements and energy-saving initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal person must possess the following:
• National Certificate / Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or equivalent (Class One Trade Tested)
• At least 3 years’ practical experience, preferably in FMCG environment
• Strong knowledge of commercial refrigeration systems
• Ability to read electrical and refrigeration diagrams
• Knowledge of food safety standards and temperature control requirements
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• High level of accountability and attention to detail
• Strong safety awareness
