Job Description

Reporting to the Risk Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for management of the Authority’s insurance portfolio and risk transfer strategy. This include optimizing insurance coverage, managing relationships with brokers and insurers, overseeing claims and performing risk-financing analysis to ensure cost effective risk mitigation. The role also serves as the operational and administrative anchor for the ERM Unit, ensuring its smooth functioning.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Outputs
Identify insurable risks and recommend appropriate risk transfer strategies.
Manage procurement, placement, and renewal of insurance policies.
Review policy terms to ensure adequacy and alignment with risk exposures.
Benchmark insurance coverage, premiums, risk financing and insurance practices against industry peers and market practices.
Monitor the external environment for emerging insurable risks (e.g., climate change, supply chain, pandemics) and advise on insurance program adaptation
Oversee end-to-end insurance claims administration.
Analyse claims trends and loss experience.
Coordinate the Unit’s annual planning, budgeting, and reporting calendar.
Conduct cost-benefit analysis of insurance versus risk retention.
Conduct property risk surveys with insurers / brokers and facilitate the implementation of risk management findings and recommendations.
Provide insurance and risk transfer advisory services to departments.
Conduct insurance-related risk awareness programmes and trainings.

Qualifications and Experience

Degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Actuarial Science, Business, Finance or related field.
A professional qualification in insurance or risk management (e.g ACII, AIIZ, AIISA. CRMP, FRM or related) is an added advantage.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in corporate insurance brokerage, risk financing, or in-house insurance management for a large organisation.
