Job Description

The organisation is seeking an experienced and qualified Senior Pharmacist to report to the General Manager and lead the pharmacy department. The role involves overseeing pharmaceutical services, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting clinical teams, and managing staff and budgets.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Pharmaceutical Management:
Oversee ordering, storage, and dispensing of medicines; ensure accuracy, safety, and compliance; manage stock levels, procurement, expiries, and day-to-day pharmacy operations.
• Clinical Pharmacy Services:
Participate in ward rounds, medication reviews, theatre drug management, and provide on-call support during emergencies.
• Governance & Quality Assurance:
Develop and implement pharmacy SOPs, conduct audits, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage adverse drug reaction reporting.
• Leadership & Supervision:
Supervise and mentor pharmacy staff, plan work schedules, conduct appraisals, and support training and CPD.
• Administration & Financial Management:
Manage the pharmacy budget, control medicine expenditure, prepare monthly/quarterly reports, and contribute to procurement committee decisions.
• Education & Training:
Provide medicine-related training to clinical staff and stay updated on pharmacy practice developments.

Qualifications and Experience

• BPharm or equivalent.
• Registration with the Pharmacists Council.
• 5–7 years post-qualification experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role.
• Hospital pharmacy experience is an added advantage.
• Strong leadership and organisational skills
• Good understanding of supply chain and procurement
• High attention to detail
• Teamwork
• Excellent communication
• Proficiency with pharmacy systems and MS Office.
