Job Description

The following vacancy has arisen within TIMB and applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill this position on a 1-year fixed term employment contract basis. Reporting to the SUSTAINABILITY OFFICER, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Duties and Responsibilities

• Under the guidance of the Sustainability Officer, develop action plans to respond to the salient sustainability and human rights issues affecting the tobacco industry.
• Support the Sustainability Officer with the development of tools, metrics, and indicators for measuring and reporting progress on the commitments and sustainability goals.
• Oversee the delivery against the common agenda and action plans, including awareness raising, training delivery and capacity building of farmers and field staff on all salient sustainability and human nights issues; design and deliver the training whenever relevant and necessary.
• Assist in compilation of Sustainability programs reports including reporting on STP program status.
• Establish linkages and help integrate the industry standards reporting with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
• Assist the Sustainability Officer with the organisation, administration of industry meetings, deliberations on issues related to sustainability and human rights.
• Attend to any prioritised sustainability topics, initiatives, and programs.

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant University Degree in Agricultural Sciences/Social Sciences/Sustainability/Human Rights.
• 3 years relevant working experience, tobacco or agri-commodity experience is an added advantage.
• Experience working with private sector.
• A good understanding of agricultural supply chains.
• Experience with social (human and labour rights) and/or environmental sustainability in tobacco supply chain is strongly preferred.
• Experience in project implementation, monitoring and evaluation of results.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS/ COMPETENCES
• High analytical, planning and project management skills.
• Highly organs., diligent and able to plan and prioritise work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer literacy, familiarity with data software.
