Job Description
The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) is a statutory body mandated to ensure the provision of a level playing field for safe, reliable and sustainable energy supply through effective regulation. ZERA seeks the services of a highly competent, professional and results oriented individual who can take the organisation to a higher level in the following role:
POSITION: SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
Reporting directly to the ICT MANAGER
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Job Functions of this position will be to ensure the continuous, secure, and reliable operation of ZERA's ICT systems by managing server infrastructure, virtualization platforms, and data center operations. The job will involve:
• Infrastructure Management: Administer and optimize server environments (physical and virtual), including Active Directory, Group Policy, and print services.
• System Health: Proactively monitor system performance, troubleshoot complex hardware/software issues, and oversee the data centre.
• Security & Data Protection: Implement robust backup operations, disaster recovery protocols, and
manage user permissions and access rights.
• Lifecycle & Upgrades: Manage hardware/software lifecycles, including installations, patching, and configuration updates.
• Collaboration: Work with the Network Administrator on infrastructure planning and documentation.
Qualifications and Experience
Key Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will be a proactive technical professional with a strong foundation in enterprise infrastructure and a proven trackable record of maintaining high-availability systems.
Academic & Professional Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Communication Technology (ICT), Computer Science, or a closely related field.
• Advanced Study: A relevant Post-Graduate qualification or specialized
professional certifications (e.g.,
MCSE, VCP, or CCNP) will be considered a distinct advantage.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive ICT experience, specifically within systems administration or infrastructure roles.
Technical Expertise
• Infrastructure & Virtualization: Proven proficiency in managing enterprise-grade Server Administration and Virtualization platforms (such as VMware Sphere or Microsoft Hyper-V).
• SAP System: Working experience using SAP system
• Problem Solving: Exceptional troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network, server, and application-level issues under pressure.
