Job Description

1. Introduction
World Vision Zimbabwe invites qualified and experienced borehole drilling contractors to submit
bids for the surveying, drilling, development, and construction of 18 boreholes across various
districts in the Northern Region. These boreholes are intended for solar mechanization and must
meet a minimum yield of 1.0 L/s.
2. Scope of Work
The contractor shall:
• Conduct hydro-geological surveys at designated sites.
• Submit 2D geophysical profiles and survey reports with GPS coordinates.
• Drill and case boreholes using approved uPVC or steel materials.
• Perform capacity and recovery tests for each borehole.
• Submit water quality test reports (physical, chemical, bacteriological).
• Complete all works within 21 days of contract signing.

Duties and Responsibilities

3. Borehole Sites and Lots
Refer to Annex A for detailed site listings, GPS coordinates, and expected yields. The works are
divided into four lots:
• Lot 1: Mudzi & Rushinga (4 boreholes)
• Lot 2: Makoni & Hwedza (3 boreholes)
• Lot 3: Gokwe North (3 boreholes)
• Lot 4: Buhera & Chimanimani (8 boreholes)
4. Technical Specifications
Contractors must adhere to the Technical Specifications and Procedures outlined in the attached
TOR document, including:
• Borehole depth: minimum 80m
• Borehole diameter: 6–8 inches
• Casing: uPVC Class 10 or steel
• Gravel pack: rounded hard quartz (4–6mm)
• Sanitary seal: minimum 4m depth
• Slotting: V-wire type, 1.0mm width
5. Standards and Certifications
All materials must meet international standards (ISO, NSF/ANSI) or approved regional equivalents
(SANS, ZWS). Third-party verification is mandatory before use.
6. Deliverables
Contractors must submit:
• Hydro-geological survey reports
• Drilling logs and lithological profiles
• Capacity and recovery test data
• Water quality test results
• Borehole construction logs
• Completion certificates signed by WVZ and local authorities

Qualifications and Experience

7. Financial Proposal
Bidders must submit a detailed itemized financial proposal, including:
• Drilling rates per meter
• Cost of double casing
• Rates beyond 90m depth
• Mobilization and demobilization costs
8. Evaluation Criteria
Bids will be evaluated based on:
• Technical capacity and experience
• Compliance with specifications
• Financial competitiveness
• Delivery timelines
• References and past performance
