Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following vacancies that have arisen at Bindura University of Science Education.

The Chaplain shall report to the Dean of Students for the coordination of religious activities to the University stakeholders that comprises students, staff and the community in and around the University. The Chaplain will also work with the University community on issues of religion and welfare and report to the Vice Chancellor through the Dean of Students.

To coordinate religious activities at the University and offer religious and spiritual guidance to students and staff;
To provide Pastoral care and support to students and staff;
To provide psycho-social support to students and staff as and when necessary;
To serve families of deceased students’ and staff as required through follow-up and guidance;
To participate in Committees, students and staff conferences related to Chaplaincy in order to enhance the continuity and care of stakeholders;
To establish good working conditions with all members of the Chaplaincy team as well as volunteers and keep records as required;
To minister to students and staff;
To perform any other duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must have at least a Master’s Degree in Theology, Sociology, Psychology of Education, Counselling, Philosophy or Religious Studies from a recognised University;
A PhD in the above field would be an added advantage;
The incumbent must have at least four (4) years’ work experience in Pastoral care and must be ordained and recommended by his or her church;
In addition, the candidate must be mature, a team player with good communication skills and of unquestionable integrity;
Evidence of experience in guidance and counselling is a requirement and previous experience of working in a University or Educational Institution would be an added advantage.
