Introduction
The Zimbabwe Farmers' Union (ZFU) is the largest farmers’ interest organization in Zimbabwe. It represents over a million farming households. The Union draws its membership from Small- Holder, Small-Scale Commercial and Large-Scale Commercial farmers. The main mandate of ZFU is to promote and advance farmers’ interests and welfare through policy lobby and advocacy.

The Capacity Building Manager is a key human resource for the implementation of the Union’s Agricultural knowledge and Innovation system. He/She identifies capacity needs and develops, implements and evaluates an annual training program to address them. He/She plays a critical role in the achievement of the Union’s strategic goals through addressing capacity gaps at the Secretariat and Membership levels.

Duties and Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities
The coordination and implementation of education and training activities within the organization; Production of annual Education and Training Workplan and Budget; Conducting periodic surveys to identify education and training needs for ZFU members and secretariat staff; Liaising with other departments and external agencies for coordinated training services; Production of education and training material in partnership with other agencies who share the same interests; Preparation of a training calendar on all training activities in relation to farmer leaders, farmers and staff needs; Record and store data on training requests, surveys, and evaluations; Carry out impact analysis of the entire education and training program and identify areas of improvement; Carry out fund raising activities to support education and training program; Manage education and training budget and ensure that cost cutting measures are implemented; Produce and submit periodic reports on activities as determined from time to time; To represent the Union in identified fora as and when required; To perform any other duties delegated by the Union through the appropriate authority.

Functional competencies
Demonstrated development / programming skills particularly those that are pertinent to the Zimbabwe Farmers Union strategic priorities on gender equality and women’s rights; Ability to lead formulation and implementation of training programmes within the Unions; Ability to develop detailed operational plans, budgets, and deliver on them for development results; Ability to establish and maintain broad strategic networks and partnerships with private and public entities to promote partnership and build alliances to advance organizational interests and competencies; Demonstrated good oral and written communication skills.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications
The Applicant should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or related fields. She/He must have at least Five (5) years relevant experience working with farmers.
