Tongaat Hulett is a focused agro-processing business, which includes integrated land management, property development and agriculture with business operations throughout the SADC region. Tongaat Hulett Zimbabwe (THZ) Operations, is situated in the South Eastern Lowveld of Zimbabwe rind is a major agricultural and sugar cane milling company.

CODED WELDER ARTISAN

Purpose of Role
To carry out specialized welding repairs on Load Bearing equipment and High-Pressure containment vessels, as well as maintenance of auto-mobile equipment and selected fixed steel structural components, in line with company standards and SHE requirements

Duties and Responsibilities


Key Responsibilities
• Performs specialized welding on Lifting equipment.
• Performs specialized welding on Pressure containment vessels
• Repairs, assembles and maintains auto-mobile equipment and selected fixed structures across the estate.
• Fabricates vehicle steel bodies like, but not limited to trailers.
• Lays out steel sheets or other heavy metal plates, locates and marks ending and cutting lines using hand and power tools
• Shapes and fabricates parts to required modifications for plant and equipment
• Analyses drawings to determine specifications, relationships and dimensions of parts and relevant material types required.
• performs quality control checks of welded equipment leaving the workshop.
• Inspects and maintains workshop tools for safe use.
• participates in Audit of workshop tools inventories.
• Completes job cards and time logs on all jobs completed.
• Supervises subordinates to ensure high standard of work.
• Identifies SHE hazards and risks in the section and initiates
• Participates in workshop maintenance and good housekeeping, as required by set SHE standards.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications and Experience
• Training and certification in Coded Welding by a recognized Standards Association.
• Class 1 Journeyman National Certificate in Fabrication Engineering/ Plate Welding
• Ability to perform Aluminum and MiG and Tig welding
• Should have 5 0 Levels including Maths and English language
• A level will be an added advantage
• Minimum 4 years' experience in a fabrication and maintenance workshop.

Technical Competencies

• Sound planning, leading and organizational abilities- able to motivate
• Oral and written presentation.
