A think tank and advocacy institution on electoral democracy in Zimbabwe is looking for an Executive director to lead a vibrant and dynamic team.

Duties and Responsibilities

Position summary
Support the Board in determining the strategic direction of the organization and ensuring the development of key associated documents including but not limited to strategic plans, budgets and fundraising strategies, annual reports and reviews and board reports; Liaise with civic society, political parties, government and election management body on election issues and with democratic election stakeholders in the region and beyond; Guide the management team and staff in the development and execution of program-specific plans; Provide oversight and accountability for planning, program design and delivery of objectives, strategies, plans and budgets in compliance with the organizational contractual obligations with funders, and organization’s policies and procedures; Ensure the delivery of agreed outputs of the programs in accordance with the established budget; Monitor the expenditures of the organization in accordance with funding partners and policies, maintaining accountability for financial probity and risk management (including financial risk, risk to staff, reputational risk etc); Provide day-to-day supervision and mentoring of staff; Act as lead spokesperson for the organization, representing the organization in public fora and the media; Manage the relationship with current and prospective funders including reporting to donors; Ensures smooth management of all projects, which encompass the achievement of desired outcomes of programs and projects on time and within budget; Responsible for corporate governance and compliance with relevant legislation; Ensures that a positive and ethical work climate is maintained which is conducive to attracting, retaining and motivating employees.

Qualifications and Experience

Requirements and qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of progressive work experience in a leadership position; Proven experience in organizational management; strong demonstrable skills in project design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation; Proven experience in resource mobilization; Experience working in political environments or international development; working with political parties, with civic activists and policymakers; 4-5 years senior leadership position demonstrating strategic planning, high-level liaising and partnership building with international donors’ projects; Extensive organizational management experience, evidenced by previous positions involving administration and direct supervision of staff; Extensive fundraising experience and track record in fundraising and reporting to donors; Demonstrated experience and capability as a leader who can influence the direction of the organization’s impact, including identifying and accessing the most effective channels for advocacy, and maintaining an active network of contacts with strategic stakeholders, NGOs and the media locally, regionally and internationally.
