Job Description

An established organization in the Poultry farming sector is seeking a Feed Mill Maintenance Manager to join their dynamic team. The suitable candidate ensures the maintenance department is run as per SOPs to minimize downtime and safety risk in the Feed Mill. Responsible for civil, electrical and mechanical maintenance of the feed mill. Responsible for the development, implementation and day-to-day supervision of maintenance systems, processes and documentation (Prevention and Predictive Maintenance, TPM, SOP’s, Safety, etc.). Responsible for updating & maintaining all equipment daily, weekly & monthly Maintenance Schedule & Checklists. Ensures maintenance is performed as per Maintenance Schedule and liaises with Production to ensure Maintenance work is planned and carried out with minimal downtime. Carries out daily Pre-operational checks to minimize downtime and hazards. Plans for all requirements for shutdown maintenance & projects. Develops and maintains KPIs for tracking and reporting the performance of the maintenance function (3rd party contractor performance, equipment reliability, overall equipment performance, etc.). Employ proactive techniques: Failed part analysis (FPA); Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA); Failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) thus extending machinery life span. Ensures tasks are completed in accordance with GMPs, GHPs, Factory Standards, SHE SOPs, FSMS and NSSA regulations. Ensures the factory is maintained as per ISO 22000 Prerequisite Programs. Meets department personnel daily to review outstanding job requests and any potential threats to production. Ensures and verifies all periodic preventative maintenance schedules are carried out as per maintenance program. Ensures all Statutory maintenance and certification is carried out on boilers, pressure vessels, scales, lifting equipment and ladders annually. Ensures the factory complies with Factories and Works Regulations for annual licencing. Liaises with the Mill Manager to ensure all jobs are carried out to satisfaction. Attends weekly IRVICOMs & monthly safety meetings and implements action plan agreed at meeting. Attends FSM & Management Review Meetings as a Food Safety team member. Conducts weekly factory inspections to eliminate fire and safety hazards. Compiles daily KPIs indices to add to KPI report. Raises alerts for predictive and/or preventative maintenance of equipment or machinery on schedule. Optimizing equipment life cycle and reducing maintenance costs. Spearheads annual budget preparations for spares, tools and equipment. Controls workshop related costs to within set budget limits. Trains employees on proper work methods, safety procedures and scope of authority & responsibility based on qualification & skill level. Leads team of Artisans & Assistants in predictive & preventative maintenance and machine repair. Participates in job descriptions reviews & updates when needed. Performance manages maintenance staff as per company performance management reviews. Conducts safety talks with Maintenance team every morning. Conducts monthly meetings with Mill team on various relevant topics. Ensures that maintenance staff adheres to all SHE, QA, GMPs, GHPs & SOPs at all time. Ensures all resources are available at all time to facilitate maintenance jobs timeously and prevent downtime.
