Finance & Administration Officer: Local NGO

Location: Masvingo

The employer is a locally registered non-governmental organization. The organization has operated for more than 10 years in Zimbabwe and over the years has been contributing towards attainment of its vision by working with local communities, partners and stakeholders across Zimbabwe. The organization is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced individual to fill the post of Finance and Administration Officer to support the Finance Unit and Programming Department.

Duties and Responsibilities

Job Purpose

Prepare plans, budgets and financial forecasts for the project;Prepare financial

statements in areas of income, expenses and cash flow; Manage procurement process in line with procurement policies; Develop management and financial reporting systems; Maintain a computerized accounting system for the management of program expenditures; Produce projects accounts and audit schedules ; Reconciliation of banks, cash, debtors and creditors statements; Safeguard all assets owned by the organization including maintenance of a comprehensive register; Ensure that all payments are in line with procedure, timeframes and according to budget; In consultation with the supervisor,

Negotiate terms and conditions of agreements i.e. hiring of motor vehicles and other

equipment essential in implementing the organization’s aims and objectives as necessary;

Manage Risk and ensure full Compliance to statutes and grant conditions; Monitors

personnel development and manpower needs of the organization; Maintains staff records and the conditions of service manual; Administers salaries and benefits policy of the organization

Carry out other administrative duties as will be assigned by the Line Manager.

Minimal and may involve a lot of sitting and working outside normal hours

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Education

A degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business Studies, CIS or CIMA;

Experience

At least 5 years’ experience in NGO in management of donor funding in a multi-funder environment & relief programs.

Specific Skills /Qualities

Good presentation, communication and analytical skills; Ability to analyze and solve

problems; Computer literate and sound knowledge of accounting software; Integrity,

professionalism and ethical approach; Good public & industrial relations in dealing with

staff and other stakeholders; Confidence.
